What a delectable week it’s been at Liqurious. To find out more about each drink, click on the image. Also, cheers to Federated Media ~ i just drove up to San Francisco to celebrate their 5th birthday!!! Huge thanks to their amazing team for taking such amazing care of NOTCOT over the last 3+ years! (And can you believe we turned 5 this year too?!?!?!?!)
AMAZING! I joked about an idea like this with people… bags that could protect my camera when needed, disappear to nearly nothing when i’m using the camera? Inflatableness to the rescue?!?! Kata ABS-HD inflatable protective casing comes folded up in a pouch. I love that they say “When on board with your camcorder it takes approximately 1 minute to inflate, wrap up your camcorder and stow it in the over head bin.” So you can basically sneak on seeming like you have very little, then poof you fill the bin? Slightly shady. But then again, perhaps you can use it as a flotation device in case or emergency? I also wonder how it handles the air pressure? Sadly they also say “This is inflatable protection not a camcorder bag, so while on the go use the camcorders strap or handle to carry and upon arriving at your destination it should be deflated and packed away in your working bag.” I’d love a purse/messenger bag fitting version for my dslr for those emergencies if i had to pack it in my check in, or let someone else handle my bags… see more images on the next page!
Here’s the first post in a fun new series! Sponsored by Veer.com ~ we get to have some fun and go image researching around random themes inspiring us at the moment.. and share what we find! Honestly, these types of random inspiration hunts we wander off on from google image searches to flickr to scouring NOTCOT itself and just wandering deeper into the internet… are pretty common, just seldom do we keep track and share it out as a post! So to kick things off Leo and i decided to explore what initially started as a hunt for cool imagery on signage… that ended up leading to some crazy graphical wall coverings that included cool imagery from signs and more… take a peek at the randomness we were inspired by on our internet exploration on the next page! Additionally check out more on the theme in my Veer Lightbox on Signage… but first fun pics that inspired us on the next page!
Hybrid concepts for future sports cars are inescapable ~ remember the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG E-Cell? Well here is the stunning Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid concept car with plug in hybrid that launched in Geneva i’ve been obsessively looking at pics of lately. Look at those wheels in particular! And the aggressively sleek exterior? Stats: “An emission level of just 70 grams CO2 per kilometer on fuel consumption of three liters/100 kilometers (equal to 94 mpg imp) outstanding even for an ultra-compact city car. 0 to 100 km/h in just under 3.2 seconds, top speed of 320 km/h (198 mph). Body shell made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFP) with appropriate use of magnesium and aluminum to reduce weight to less than 1,490 kg or 3,285 lb and provide stiffness.” Although just a concept, they said it would be put into production if 1000 people were serious about it… and it looks like it might be happening! Take a peek at the gorgeous promo video and close up pics on the next page.
A bit ad happy lately ~ so many inspiring, creative ads lately! Latest are these new Blank Canvases ads from American Express for their Zync Card! Lovely idea that ANYTHING can be a blank canvas ~ opening things up to unlimited possibilities ~ particularly in art, music, food, and fashion! And the three spots have different musicians… so see the spots from The Passion Pit, The Antlers, and Andrew Bird on the next page!
This week’s NOTCOT.org roundup features constructions from humans and nonhumans and beautiful designs both natural and synthetic. It’s got buildings made of speedos and monuments decorated with light sabers, pigeon suits and flip flop furniture. To find out more about each post, click on the individual images.
You’d think it’d be hard to top the “I’m on a horse” he’s the man our man could smell like ad. You’d think most wouldn’t even try. But leave it to Weiden + Kennedy to take it above and beyond and still have us in stitches laughing so hard. Who doesn’t love a bubble bath foam axe and birds? From t-shirts, to new ads, to hilarious online ad takeovers (that even make me a little jealous we’re not running them here!), and fun graphic design we’re loving on the sites too… See the new ads and more on the next page.
Today’s obsession? Absolut Art of Sharing Pitchers ~ after running across them on The World’s Best Ever i’ve been googling and ebaying and finding out whatever i can about them… but no one seems to know if they available in the US? What is it made of? This new summery art collaboration with Stephen J Powers and Chiho Aoshima results in 4 summery pitchers. I assume they are just plastic? Perhaps silk screened on? Have any of you seen them in person? Felt the quality of them? Art Collectors says - “From what we can tell, they’ve been released in various sizes for different markets (1Liter in US, 700ml in Europe/New Zealand, 750ml in Mexico)” and “So far, only 3/4 designs have been released in the 1L and 750ml sizes, so your best bet is to go for the 700ml set, which so far have hit a limited number of specialty stores in the UK, France, Belgium, and Greece.” See more pics and the video on the next page!
p.s. “The Art of Sharing” makes me think of being a little kid… and learning about how important it is to share!
p.p.s. Updated ~ just found an exclusive french design by Dan Tobin Smith - pictures added on next page.
Eerie inspiration of the day ~ LeBasse Gallery just posted a preview of Melissa Haslam’s Botanica… my favorite is Fox and Rabbit ~ though it’s hard not to think VAMPIRE! As soon as you see it… or maybe that’s the inescapable twilight mania subconsciously working on me. There’s something fun about her girls in their fun, simple, dark fashions with that burst of color coming from the naturally inspired…. flowers, animals through hair, and more. Take a peek at more of my favorites from Melissa Haslam’s upcoming show on the next page.
2am is a socially acceptable time to admit secret crushes, right? Well i’ve had a long time intellectual and visual crush on SEED. Broke my heart when the gorgeous print mag ceased to be. And the tagline on their Seed Media Group page title “Science is culture.” i adore. Impeccable design. Brilliant insights. What more could you want? Apparently business cards designed by Sagmeister Inc.. How did i never notice these? When they did the branding ~ the logo is apparently reflective on the letterhead… to “reflect the room, etc.” And the business cards… “version of the portrait of the bearer” ~ aren’t they amazing? I can’t believe i only just discovered them tonight! See more images of the logo, the philosophy behind the designs, and the business cards close up on the next page.
p.s. can you imagine Invader adapting these into tile portraits and taking them to the streets?
SO, when reading Today Tomorrow ~ i was fascinated by Golan Levin and Kyle McDonald’s flowers unwarped images… Golan Levin says “Abusing my open-source BloggieUnwarper panoramic-imaging software with some flower photographs from Flickr, we produced the “flower panoramas” below. This is what you would see if you were doing panoramic imaging from inside a flower…” Well i couldn’t help myself, and as soon as i saw this, i lit up upon realizing all of those Chandelier Mandalas i’ve been photographing all over the world… needed to be seen from within! So on the next page you can see “what you would see if you were doing panoramic imaging from INSIDE CHANDELIERS!” ~ and candles, and the amazing Hope light, and even the ceiling of the galleria, and more! It’s quite a trip… be warned, there are a LOT of images on the next page… i’m having way too much fun with this!

On interesting alcohol packaging related products… Hennessy just launched these limited edition Hennessy V.S. flask sleeves, a “first of its kind, protected by a silicon “skin” which can be found in a variety of vibrant, stylish colors including red, yellow, purple, and green.” When i first saw images of it, i wasn’t sure what to think, but once they sent one over it made a bit more sense, and the high quality silicon feels great in your hand. Nice touches with the Hennessy script forming in the inside texture ~ and the grape vine pattern of the label is echoed around the front of the sleeve. As soon as my dad saw it, he immediately thought the nice slip resistant grip was perfect for fishing trips, making you even more likely than before to resuse the Hennessy flask bottle in slippery situations. When you pull the top back, it pretty much looks like your flask is wearing a hoodie. Currently available in NY, NJ, RI, and CT, the will become available throughout the US through the summer. Take a peek at more images on the next page!
Oooh ~ Artek goes BLACK GLOSS! … with their appropriately names Glossy Black collection, these classic pieces get even sleeker, simpler, and shinier! Also the photoshoot they did for this line was inspired (are they looking thoughtful? lonely? cold? they almost call for a caption contest). Beautiful beachy sunsets. Sleek glossy black seating. See it all on the next page!
